february hush-
dawn reveals willows dressed in
january snow
–
sunrise-
crusted snow
underfoot
opalescent clouds-
shadows on the moonlit snow
cast by trees long dead
–
dying embers-
in the dark I become
the falling snow
a warm winter’s day-
snow melt runs in rivulets
down these ivied walls
–
freezing rain-
english ivy
glazed in ice
the new dawn arrives
on the first day of winter
revealing the truth
–
winter dawn-
a landscape of ice
greets the sun
early spring flurries-
a young robin perches in
snow covered holly
–
peach sunrise-
frost glazes the
juniper berries
the last leaf of fall-
waiting for the warm spring sun
buried under snow
–
falling sleet-
an icy glaze
on english ivy
winter is coming-
it seems only yesterday
the trees were in bloom
–
the forest-
awake under a
blanket of snow
this taste of sunshine
after the dark dry winter
barely slakes my thirst
–
crokus blossoms-
eagerly defy the
lingering winter
coruscating snow
slithers across the highway
hastened by the wind
–
morning sun-
cherry blossoms
in the snow
white breath and mittens-
on the pond shaved ice gathers
the sounds of laughter
–
heavy blankets-
the sound
of falling snow
