remnants of morning rain
steaming in the sun

the sun long set-
a silent queue
of glowing screens

lightning cuts the sky
the hard steel train tracks glisten
in the sudden rain

a train whistle-
the station floor
slick with rain

down along the tracks-
in the distance the fog glows
with a passing train
–
a waiting owl-
the train echos
through the hollow

a prairie sunrise-
rails rolling past my window
into the distance
–
crickets-
the silence of
a passing train
