Spring
crimson in the sun-
the first cardinal of spring
on my garden gate
–
april morning-
daffodils
in the rain
crimson in the sun-
the first cardinal of spring
on my garden gate
–
april morning-
daffodils
in the rain
blue snow glories-
dry autumn leaves pushed aside
to make way for spring
–
muddy paw prints-
tracking spring
across my floors
a patchwork of blue-
clouds thread their way through branches
awaiting new growth
–
a taste of green-
daffodils pierce
the quilted snow
tiger lilies bloom-
last year’s fallen leaves begin
dancing with the wind
–
crocus blooms –
a young robin
in my birdbath
an early robin-
lichen covered granite steps
cut into the hill
–
holly berries-
amid the ivy
a cardinal
this bitter old man
remnants of his acid breath
at last behind us
–
open windows-
daffodils
break the soil
over greening trees
the ashen face of winter
watches the sunrise
–
peep frogs-
rainfall on
the river
alabaster hills
cherry blossoms harken to
the first blush of spring
–
snowdrops-
a hint of cherry
on your lips
Wafting on the breeze
There comes the gentle scent of
A lilac in bloom
Driving, lost in thought.
Brought back to earth by the smell
of freshly cut grass.
