Silence

a deer in the woods-
the chorus of spring peepers
suddenly silent

midnight-
startled awake by
preternatural stillness

Silence

as the sun rises
I try once more to forget
the sins of my past

spring evening-
frogs still
as I walk past

Silence

deafening silence-
either speak out or admit
your complicity

becalmed-
the sea reclaims
what’s rightly hers

Silence

the dragonfly’s drone
suddenly silenced when it
alights on my palm

stillness-
the dragonfly
landed

Silence

The night’s slow passage
A stanza in the poem
Of my sleeplessness
