rescued by your light

dancing reflections
from the surface

a warm autumn glow-
dawn clouds steeped in honey spill
across the ocean

daybreak-
sunlight dances
on the wave tops

highway sedation-
numbed by the interplay of
streetlights and shadows
–
evening star-
a crow perched
atop a streetlight

meager candle light
cast upon these cottage walls
mingles with shadows
–
gold leaf-
dappled through
the tree tops

downtown abandoned-
sickly yellow light leaks from
a single street lamp
–
moths-
the guttering
porch light

late afternoon sun-
distant shadows highlight the
sepia landscape
–
quicksilver moon-
the skyline
alight

glowing in the dark
the distant lights, reflections
off Jamaica bay
–
twilight-
each firefly
tells a story

the long autumn sun
shining through the turning leaves
of October trees
–
frosted windows-
winter morning light
spreads across my floor

tall iron street lamps
cast their pallid light over
London’s cobblestones
–
polished pewter
the lustrous glow
of a veiled moon

sunflowers in bloom
all turning in unison
to bask in the sun

a salamander
atop a fence post
awaits the dawn
