Insomnia

staring at the clock
waiting an eternity
for the time to change

my mind’s ear-
wide awake
in the dark

Insomnia

dull red numerals-
precious sleep stolen away
minute by minute

the wee hours-
eyes wide open
In the darkness

Insomnia

my bed, no respite
dark lonely hours renege on
the promise of sleep

flannel sheets-
the rhythm
of your breath

Insomnia

thin walls, raised voices
across the street, it’s last call
in my third floor flat

crow on a gaslight
fog blanketing
cobblestones

Insomnia

sleep so elusive
reliving memories in
my childhood bedroom

oppressive heat
clock watching
until sunrise
