summer’s final breath-
the wind in the autumn leaves
whispering goodbye
–
a covered bridge-
fallen leaves dance
before the rain

draped across the yard
a patchwork of autumn leaves
quilted by the wind
–
november air-
bronzed oak leaves
litter the ground

an autumn sunset-
the shadow of a goshawk
long on the meadow
–
oak leaves-
slipping below
a covered bridge

Autumn’s final leaf
Lets go it’s hold on winter
And portends the spring

The voice of autumn
Whispers from the swirl of leaves
Carried on the breeze

Icy daggers hang
Dripping in the winter sun
Waiting for the fall.
