Deluge

an ocean of books
barely able to slake my
thirst for the unknown

gunmetal clouds-
stepping outside
into the deluge

Deluge

one final look back
collar turned up against the
horizontal rain

spring peepers-
the rain of snare drums
on the forest floor

Deluge

walking through the storm
cold rain running down her back
her umbrella, home

hammered tin
the slow drip of rain
through the roof

Deluge

a flash of lighting
tears the fabric of the night
letting in the rain

wet brilliance
slicing through
shadows
