gathering sunlight
wakes the tangled vines of shy
morning glory blooms
–
rustling leaves
a shaft of light
warming my cat

white sprays of sea foam
torn loose from the crashing waves
aloft in the wind
–
open ocean
gulls soaring
into the wind

broad wings outstretched
running across the water
before taking flight
–
rustling leaves
wind mulling over
a goose’s wing

staring at the stars
she walks in the warm surf while
winds tousle her hair
–
herring gulls
skimming on the
offshore breeze

swaying water grass
iridescent dragonflies
hover in the breeze
–
gusting wind
ripples in
the lavender

snowy egrets stand
in the salt marsh, motionless
hunting careless fish
–
cattails
swaying in the
warm salt breeze

eroding mountains
pushing back against the wind
resistant to change
–
warm breezes-
paisley dancing
in the wheat fields

as it carves an arc
the scythe knows not of the grass
or cares of its fate
–
autumn wind
swirling oak leaves
carried aloft

falling amber rain
collecting in brackish pools
under a street light
–
a moment
flash lit raindrops
suspended in time

faded cutoff shorts
bare feet out the car window
hair teased by the wind
–
hot skin
cool sheets
and promises
