Beach
Sunset on the dunes
Sibilant whispers whirl from
The wind in the reeds
Sunset on the dunes
Sibilant whispers whirl from
The wind in the reeds
a box turtle’s shell
barely breaking the surface
gently making waves
As midnight’s tide ebbs
The wet sand saves our footprints
But for a moment
Rivers of blacktop
Streaming towards infinity
But going nowhere.
Tiny rivulets
Reveal traces of pink skin
Down her dirty cheeks
beads of morning dew
glisten on blades of grass like
jewels in the dawn
Unburdened release
Angry swollen torrents rage
Surging towards the sea
