Rowboat

oars carve the water-
echoes of my lover’s voice
from the other shore

pale skin freckled-
fingers threading
through the water

Passing

one flame extinguished
while another adds it’s light
to the firmament

eyes downcast-
black armbands
wet with rain

Summer

searing hot asphalt-
children splash in the water
from a cracked hydrant

heavy branches-
in the shade
a rope swing

Blue

frosted azure skies-
the curves of a white dragon
taken by the wind

pencil thin clouds-
the ocean reaches out
to touch the sky

Night

walking to the car
mercury vapor street lamps
spilling blue green light

drizzle-
moths dance
in the streetlights

Beach

white scrims of sea foam
gauzy and delicate as
a dragonfly’s wing

seaweed-
sun dried by
the high tide line

Shoreline

a weathered rowboat-
mooring line gently slapping
up against the dock

children jumping
from the pier-
lakeside

Hunt

above the highway
a red tailed hawk circling
riding the thermals

hunting-
an osprey plummets
to the sea

Ash

a viking long boat
trailing ash and smoke floating
towards valhalla

central park-
cigar ashes on
the chess board

Evening

ephemeral rain-
bird songs echo from the trees
in the fading light

twilight-
a grove
of amber
