Change

as the sun descends
she draws the curtain of night
to unveil the moon

angry lovers-
the evening sun
sets the sky aflame

Lovers

the scent of your hair
lingering on my pillow
greets me when I wake

freshly cut grass-
dandelion seeds
caught in your hair

Skeletons

in dusty boxes
glimpses of my prior life
relics of the past

full blood moon-
cold bony fingers
pluck at my skin

Renewal

through all this darkness
the seed of light we planted
finally takes root

snow crocus blooms-
the heady smell of
freshly turned earth

Murder

horror on parade
the fires of war march on while
death wields the baton

a murder of crows-
five men lower
their rifles

Hushed

the sounds of fresh snow
falling in the near darkness
sibilant whispers

snowfall-
lost in quiet
conversation

Bells

dark rolling water
a rusty buoy’s hollow bell
tolls across the night

split rail fence-
a congregation
of cowbells

Hunt

a large gray crane stands
fishing the shallow waters
down among the reeds

wingbeats-
spending ripples where
once was a fish

Repose

on a raven lake
the moon lies sleeping under
a blanket of stars

soft lapping-
the moon unwound
beside me

Chill

lazy curls of steam
glowing in the rays of the
slanting winter sun

the north wind-
warming my hands
on a hot cup of tea
