Sleet
reemergent sun-
every blade of autumn grass
gleaming cut crystal
–
pewter light-
glazed branches
trap the moon
reemergent sun-
every blade of autumn grass
gleaming cut crystal
–
pewter light-
glazed branches
trap the moon
sea foam in her hair
warmed by the tropical sun
caressed by the breeze
–
ocean breeze-
rum runners in the shade
of a date palm
borne out of the waves-
spun copper hair draped over
alabaster skin
–
first starlight-
the sharp bite of
an autumn eve
sleep clouding my eyes
I drive into the sunrise-
a cold autumn moon
–
cold dark morn-
torn from the womb
of my comforter
slow curls of wood smoke-
snow covers the cabin roofs
nestled in the trees
–
pine boughs-
bent and white
with autumn snow
#snowing
a cruel summer sun
the earth blistering beneath
her withering gaze
–
abandoned-
once fertile soil
becomes as dust
cold wind in my face-
through watering eyes I watch
hawks soar overhead
–
pure joy-
jowls flapping
in the slipstream
the cool below ground-
laying in the winter stores
before the first snow
–
late autumn morn-
a taste of last june’s
strawberry jam
thanksgiving morning-
a rafter of wild turkeys
wander through my yard
–
november frost-
a fresh dusting
of fallen leaves
a weathered park bench
waiting on the bus a child
takes the time to sit
–
early afternoon-
pigeons gather by
an empty bench
