Evening
ghost of summer’s sun
ring tailed bandits in the night
making such mischief
–
october sky
arcturus settles in
to the throne of the king
ghost of summer’s sun
ring tailed bandits in the night
making such mischief
–
october sky
arcturus settles in
to the throne of the king
long morning shadows
the first sign of winter falls
from the autumn sky
–
winter’s finger
paint on my
window panes
a warm ombré sky
the slowly turning sunlight
at the edge of night
–
green waters
tadpoles weave
through the rushes
searching for respite
from the stalkers in the night
attacking my toes
–
morning dew
gossamer threads
catch the sunrise
luminous, rising
from below an ebony lake
in her hand, a sword
–
sunlit hillsides
shadows rolling
slowly to the shore
ripped from a deep sleep
waking up in tattered clothes
not sure where I am
–
full moon rising
my true form
no longer hidden
an ominous day
dark clouds pass before the sun
portents of ruin
–
stippled hillsides
revealing light and
fleeting shadows
wishing you all peace
in the hope and promise of
the coming new year
–
auburn leaves
a chestnut takes root
in the dampened earth
sinking in the marsh
twisted and leafless corpses
wither in the sun
–
restive fish
dipping into
the surface
nubile and supple
and every move reminds me
of my need for you
–
warm afternoon sun
sodden and hungry
awaiting the spawn
