Mirage

the heat off your skin
bending the air and making
my resolve waver

desert sands-
shimmering water
in the distance

Daydream

lighted by the sun
her spectral visage hanging
in the morning sky

slanted light-
the virgin sun
greets the moon

Dust

a banging screen door
the ghosts of conversations
echo in the wind

merciless sun –
the empty ring
of wind chimes

Destination

leave this all behind
take my hand and run with me
into the new dawn

sunrise-
wind blown leaves
cross my path

Evening

sunset through the trees
one final glory beneath
the coming of night

rising shadows-
silhouettes against
the dusky sky

Quiet

so much left unsaid
I’m not sure that I can take
your icy silence

pools of sunshine-
the soft dripping
of melting ice

Sunset

the chill of the moon-
the sun wraps herself tightly
in the cloak of night

the winter sky-
delicate pearls grace
the neck of the night

Haze

tendrils of ground fog
seep down into the lowlands
just before the dawn

melting snow-
a silver crescent
in the mist

Waves

a pair of otters
dozing in the sun floating
far out in the bay

bleached driftwood-
iridescent sand
on the ebb tide

Heat

living night to night
afraid of my own shadow
lest I feel the sun

crying gulls-
a distant sandbar
bakes in the sun
