the low eastern sun
resplendent in green and gold
dances with the moon
–
wind chimes-
Sol and Luna
pas de deux

dripping maple leaves-
raucous jays chase each other
through the sun shower
–
sunlit paving stones-
light rain ripples
transient puddles

under a clear sky-
if only this cloud of gnats
would leave me in peace
–
venus rising-
our picnic blanket
wet with dew

the first day of may-
tight buds become blossoms on
my crabapple tree
–
a flush of new green-
daffodils trumpet
the first of may

crimson in the sun-
the first cardinal of spring
on my garden gate
–
april morning-
daffodils
in the rain

honeysuckle winds
blowing through the fresh linens
hanging on the line
–
an evening walk-
the perfume of
my neighbor’s grill

late afternoon sun
shadows of rhododendrons
dance upon my wall
–
woolen socks-
warm feet on
the windowsill

a sheltered hollow-
in the footsteps of winter
the last melting snow
–
mid april-
morning grass
crusted with snow

steam on the asphalt-
an early afternoon rain
slowly departing
–
evening rain-
a barn owl waits
in a hollow tree

guilded ocean waves-
just above the horizon
the last slice of sun
–
riding the waves-
fog crashes
into the beach
