Swells

waves rise up and fall
the rhythm of the ocean
moves us together

surfing-
the swell
of your hips

Corruption

doe-eyed sycophants-
suckling at the teat of
this festering pig

overcast-
the lack of sunlight
goes unnoticed

Heat

an empty porch swing-
lazy paddle fans disturb
the hot southern air

the forest floor-
dragonflies still
in the thick air

Dusk

as venus rises
the sun on the horizon
sets the trees aglow

western fires-
too soon dowsed
by a deluge of stars

Cats

two dark silhouettes
framed in the open window
sitting side by side

tails twitching-
warm dreams
in the sunlight

Farming

verdant fields of grass
freshly cut into windrows
drying in the sun

migrant bees-
tend the
grape arbor

Morning

awake in my bed-
dawn eases through my window
gilding all I see

a web of stars-
blackbird songs
invades my dreams

Return

the lobsterman’s wife
watching the lighthouse at the
dying of the day

silent passage-
darkening water
laps the shore

Escape

alone on the road
speeding towards oblivion
far away from you

velvet panic-
our safe word
forgotten

Shoreline

the wind on the dunes-
playful fingers turning the
pages of my book

wet towels-
bare feet
on my dash
