Return

ripples on ripples-
the pond’s once glassy surface
welcomes back the rain

a forest lea-
the doe and her fawn
return to the wood

Contemplation

a time worn foot path
generations of sandals
eroding the stones

along the path-
moss grows over
the garden stones

Wood

the smell of sawdust-
practiced hands work the gouges

turning wood to art

ocean waves-
driftwood rests
among the shells

River

a long meander-
river banks bent by the slow
persistence of time

weeping willows-
cattails and rushes
bend in the wind

Disaster

horizontal rain-
fractured palms and broken dreams
tumble down the street

dark greasy smoke-
The sky lit
by falling embers

Transition

late afternoon sun-
snow fades to grass as winter
draws to a close

red feathers-
in the snow
a purple crocus

Wind

gauzy white and gray
shifting in the breeze on a
cerulean sea

morning sun-
dust rises from
the desert floor

Sunrise

the treetops aglow
crimson branches reaching to
touch the new born sun

unfolding leaves-
the morning sun
kisses the trees
#sunrise

Moving

an early March snow-
past time for pulling up roots
and moving along

stinging rain-
I return to find
an empty home

Broken

late autumn sun-
rising waters crack the ice
from an early freeze

a white canvass-
fresh gesso broken by
crocus blossoms
