october sunrise-
ivy on the stone facade
silver in the dew

grey stone walls-
saplings rooted
in old pastures
october sunrise-
ivy on the stone facade
silver in the dew
–
grey stone walls-
saplings rooted
in old pastures
leaves soft underfoot-
in the dawning mist great oaks
fade into the sky
–
blackbird-
morning fog
through the trees
flowering milkweed-
monarchs unfurl their new wings
to catch the sunlight
–
iridescence-
concentric rainbows
on the pavement
early morning dew-
a spider’s silken shift work
floats above the grass
–
last night’s rain-
pearls rest on
tatted lace
alone and asea-
drifting on the line between
the ocean and sky
–
eventide-
the sun ignites
a fiery sea
hard edged and soulless-
the treacherous dawn comes to
spirit you away
–
softly closing doors-
again I awake
to an empty bed
light wind in my sails-
her long supple fingers glide
through tranquil water
–
soft water-
stillness arrives
on silenced oars
rails shrouded in fog-
a ghost train departs beneath
the approaching dawn
–
sunrise shadows-
nascent snow cradled in
dry autumn leaves
honeysuckle wine-
content letting the front porch
host my slow decline
–
passing cars-
an afghan shrouds
her empty rocker
lost amid the clouds-
the afternoon sky whispers
my name to the wind
–
wistfully blue-
dandelions
in your hair
