Seas
waiting for the sea-
an ancient mariner mourns
the arriving tide
–
bedraggled skies-
limp with rain over
an unkempt sea
waiting for the sea-
an ancient mariner mourns
the arriving tide
–
bedraggled skies-
limp with rain over
an unkempt sea
a sidewalk cafe-
lunch forgotten as a crow
lands on my table
–
al fresco-
a rain drop
in my coffee
born of the mountains
falling over age worn stone
scattering the sun
–
summer solstice-
roaring water
fills my ears
cold mountain water-
a riverbed lined with stones
tumbled smooth by time
–
the forest green-
a whispering brook
shares its secrets
the bathroom mirror-
a message written in steam
appears in your hand
–
starlit noon-
steam pours
from off the rocks
low rolling thunder-
lightning crawls across the sky
rattling windows
–
summer night-
the sky lit by
heat lightning
offshore thunderstorms-
an old salt returns to the
bosom of the sea
–
crimson skies
a funeral boat
adrift and alight
a fallen cedar
rotting in the undergrowth
turning back to earth
–
soft underfoot-
a carpet of
rotting leaves
droning bumblebees
flit from flower to blossom
gathering nectar
–
a young black bear-
prospecting
for gold
summer afternoon-
the hollow ring of wind chimes
in the stagnant air
–
still water-
minnows gather
beneath the footbridge
