Summer
a laboring fan-
august heat makes fonder my
memories of snow
–
summer sun-
my verdant lawn
sere and brown
a laboring fan-
august heat makes fonder my
memories of snow
–
summer sun-
my verdant lawn
sere and brown
as day turns to night
the sun gives her dying light
to the mountain tops
–
mountain peaks-
aging temples
streaked with snow
wolves of stone and snow
insubstantial in the light
of the forest moon
–
rising embers-
mournful howling
in the distance
verdant sunlight-
hillsides dappled by the shade
from the passing clouds
–
sea foam-
emerald hills
flecked with sheep
overnight snowfall
blankets the desert landscape
of sand and sagebrush
–
condors overhead-
remnants of snow
in cactus shadows
the first spring sunrise-
a thin mist of winter clings
to the melting snow
–
daybreak-
a silver moon
over hoarfrost grass
late afternoon sun-
snow fades to grass as winter
draws to a close
–
red feathers-
in the snow
a purple crocus
softly melting snow-
the trumpets of returning
canadian geese
–
the ides of march-
a robin graces
my dogwood tree
dark forest shadows
stand in stark relief against
the cold moonlit snow
–
silver moonlight-
mercury in
retrograde
snow on the gravestones-
the caretaker’s lantern swings
haloed in the fog
–
moonlit snow-
fog sprawls
across the road
