Spring

alabaster hills
cherry blossoms harken to
the first blush of spring

snowdrops-
a hint of cherry
on your lips

Guilt

washing and scrubbing
under this scalding water
still I can’t come clean

coal smoke-
a cardinal
on the snow

Renewal

through all this darkness
the seed of light we planted
finally takes root

snow crocus blooms-
the heady smell of
freshly turned earth

Hushed

the sounds of fresh snow
falling in the near darkness
sibilant whispers

snowfall-
lost in quiet
conversation

Falling

standing before you
silent and overexposed
awaiting judgement

whitecaps-
riding the edge
of an avalanche

Scorched

before the thunder
a flash of jagged lightning
frozen in the snow

august sagebrush-
ravenous flames
insatiable

Prints

walking in the snow
grinning as you casually
step in my footprints

robin tracks-
early spring
snowfall

Blank

staring deep into
an empty sheet of paper
conjuring the muse

winter’s canvas-
a palette of pine
and fresh snow

Rising

by the temple gates
burning incense left as a
simple offering

hot springs-
steam rising from
the snow monkeys

Heath

splintering sunlight
broad winter shadows reaching
out across the lea

fresh snow-
a smattering
of paw prints
