Snow
tender young seedlings-
the promise of the harvest
rises through the snow
–
first snow-
our children’s
hot chocolate
tender young seedlings-
the promise of the harvest
rises through the snow
–
first snow-
our children’s
hot chocolate
this life all too brief-
a freshly fallen snowflake
melting in my hand
–
rebirth-
spring sky in
a robin’s egg
speak not of winter-
late autumn flowers bloom through
lightly falling snow
–
caramel sunlight-
autumn’s first
turning leaf
telling my story
words spilling off of my tongue
and into your ears
–
snowfall-
the chasm
of a blank page
changing directions
deciding my journey starts
were the pavement ends
–
a cold wind-
stepping out
onto thin ice
intently watching
as the castle in the sky
slowly drifts apart
–
drifting snow-
together leading
separate lives
trapped by bitter cold
prison bars of leafless trees
holding me steadfast
–
spring snow-
steaming tea
fogs the window
a lone egret stands
beneath a spreading chestnut
sheltered from the rain
–
thunder snow-
after images of
white lighting
my head on your thigh
searching for divinity
in a sunflower
–
crimson booms
stain the pallid
melting snow
walking in the tide
my temporary footprints
too soon forgotten
–
gentle flurries-
fresh tracks lead
to the birdbath
