Time

much have I witnessed
during my earthly journey
and I am humbled

etched in stone-
recounting our
shared history

Sleep

your head on my chest
the sudden twitch of your leg
as you fall asleep

contemplation-
the sounds
of soft breathing

Love

the smile on your lips
reaches deep into your eyes
and into my heart

darkness-
reaching out
for your hand

Luna

weaver of moonlight
roses follow her footsteps
wherever she roams

asleep-
walking with
an absent moon

Lake

misty morning run-
lake water rolls off the bow
oars dipping in sync

fingers entwined-
a light rain
ripples

Train

a prairie sunrise-
rails rolling past my window
into the distance

crickets-
the silence of
a passing train

Rising

staying up all night
just to fall asleep with you
and the breaking dawn

frogs in the trees-
rising woodsmoke
staining the sunset

Sleep

a blanket of clouds
pulled up tight over my head
shutting out the day

morning song-
the reluctance
of wakefulness

Rolling

my bed set adrift
on an ocean of vodka
swells lapping my feet

whispering waves-
my head hanging
low off the bow

Widows

beauty and horror
entwined around each other
in a spider’s web

morning mist-
time passes
red on black
