Time
much have I witnessed
during my earthly journey
and I am humbled
–
etched in stone-
recounting our
shared history
much have I witnessed
during my earthly journey
and I am humbled
–
etched in stone-
recounting our
shared history
your head on my chest
the sudden twitch of your leg
as you fall asleep
–
contemplation-
the sounds
of soft breathing
the smile on your lips
reaches deep into your eyes
and into my heart
–
darkness-
reaching out
for your hand
weaver of moonlight
roses follow her footsteps
wherever she roams
–
asleep-
walking with
an absent moon
misty morning run-
lake water rolls off the bow
oars dipping in sync
–
fingers entwined-
a light rain
ripples
a prairie sunrise-
rails rolling past my window
into the distance
–
crickets-
the silence of
a passing train
staying up all night
just to fall asleep with you
and the breaking dawn
–
frogs in the trees-
rising woodsmoke
staining the sunset
a blanket of clouds
pulled up tight over my head
shutting out the day
–
morning song-
the reluctance
of wakefulness
my bed set adrift
on an ocean of vodka
swells lapping my feet
–
whispering waves-
my head hanging
low off the bow
beauty and horror
entwined around each other
in a spider’s web
–
morning mist-
time passes
red on black
