Thunder

early autumn storms-
dark roiling thunderclouds vent
their mottled fury

distant thunder-
a cloud of starlings
darken the sky

Gone

our long entrance hall-
the empty peg on the wall
where your coat once hung

distant smoke-
years of farmland
turned to ash

Evensong

low waning daylight-
songs of bullfrogs and crickets
usher in the night

twilight-
crickets sing
in my footsteps

Forgive

the full solstice moon
begs forgiveness of the sun
for stealing her light

from dust to dust-
the fullness of time
forgives no one

Storm

in the western sky
the sun sets on iron clouds
promising thunder

leaves in the wind-
the low rumble
of distant thunder

Shore

a rotting boardwalk
crosses an estuary
flowing to the sea

low tide-
razor clams
burrow in the mud

Moonlight

moonlight in her hair-
she walks along the shoreline
and into the night

a turtle’s splash –
the moon wavers
on the water

Gold

waiting on the sun-
geese fly before purple clouds
embroidered in gold

reflections-
golden koi
slowly pass

Luna

mid september moon
shines behind indigo clouds
circled in silver

blushing-
the harvest moon
kissed by the sun

Lost

walking the highway-
seems I lost myself while I
was looking for you

sandstorm-
the mirage
an oasis
