Motherhood
always by my side
the mother of my children
the love of my life
–
woven grass-
the sparrow
steadfast
always by my side
the mother of my children
the love of my life
–
woven grass-
the sparrow
steadfast
staying up all night
just to fall asleep with you
and the breaking dawn
–
frogs in the trees-
rising woodsmoke
staining the sunset
take my outstretched hand
and let us walk together
across this threshold
–
distant mountain peaks-
over the dewey grass
the rising sun
it’s not who I am
this someone in the mirror
but who I became
–
a placid lake-
the moon’s watery
countenance
on a sea of glass-
the wind, a fickle mistress
abandoning me
–
moonless sky-
wolves howling
into the wind
cloudy desert skies
bringing the promise of rain
and with it new life
–
parted clouds-
fresh cut tulips
on the table
weary of this need
yearning to see the sun but
your throat, so tempting
–
orion’s belt-
clouds of bats
obscure the moon
holding you tightly
wondering just where you go
when the darkness comes
–
stifling heat-
electric blue veins
dance across the storm
the girl of my dreams
or maybe just one of my
hallucinations
–
freshly cut grass-
watching the clouds
transform
angry thunderclouds
lurking on the horizon
heavy with cold rain
–
summer afternoon-
the scent of rain
fills the air
