Shower

passing rain showers-
steam rises from the asphalt
in the summer sun

soft patter-
august leaves
talk to the rain

bird

in a copper bowl
beneath a blooming dogwood
a robin splashes

sudden showers-
a crow flies
through the rain

Alone

a table for one-
looking for some privacy
and a little peace

bryant park-
a blanket
dewy grass

Morning

awake too early-
the shock of icy water
splashing on my face

dawning sun-
the soft glow of
bedroom curtains

Browning

a copse of willows-
long verdant tresses brunette
in the evening light

prolonged drought-
green pastures
turn to dust

Meteor

a great streak of fire
across the afternoon sky-
shattered panes of glass

the small hours-
lawn chairs and
shooting stars

Rowboat

oars carve the water-
echoes of my lover’s voice
from the other shore

pale skin freckled-
fingers threading
through the water

Mourning

cold tears of mourning
mix with the rain as I turn
my face to the sky

false dawn-
I’m sill here
without you

Clouds

a dandelion seed
lazily drifts through the sky
as I watch the clouds

freshly cut grass-
making sculptures
from the clouds

Watching

the sky fades to black-
another episode down
with your hand in mine

crisp night air-
the pleiades
overhead
