Shadows

moonlight in the trees-
silently a cold wind shifts
shadows on the snow

long shadows-
the warm wind
walks me home

Nosferatu

hiding from the sun
living in the shadows while
I curse the darkness

the moon obscured-
my ancient thirst
unslaked

Bed

the small of your back
illuminated softly
by a slice of moon

waterfall-
hair cascading
across my pillow

Death

my sins behind me
wrapped in white linen steeped in
your divinity

under water-
the surface
receding

Death

my soul recoils from
the cold skeletal touch of
the angel of death

twilight-
fireflies lead me
across the river

Recovery

almost a year clean
yet I still have a hard time
passing by the spoons

closing time –
club soda
my paltry reward

Light

meager candle light
cast upon these cottage walls
mingles with shadows

gold leaf-
dappled through
the tree tops

Color

immaturity-
unsure of how to deal with
my first streaks of gray

afternoon light-
test swatches
on the wall

Load

to ease your burden
I’ll stand by your side a while
and shoulder your load

distant clouds-
fences in need
of mending

Moonlight

a glowering moon-
the creak of a rocking chair
in an empty house

moonlit shadows-
your hand
pale in mine
