Moonlight

dark forest shadows
stand in stark relief against
the cold moonlit snow

silver moonlight-
mercury in
retrograde

Sunrise

the treetops aglow
crimson branches reaching to
touch the new born sun

unfolding leaves-
the morning sun
kisses the trees
#sunrise

Empty

an empty barstool-
I decide to take a risk
on conversation

empty glasses-
my napkin
torn to shreds

Moonlight

bright silver moonlight
streaming in through the skylight
pooling on the floor

quicksilver-
the full moon
above the trees

Distance

I placed you upon
a pedestal and now you’re
far beyond my reach

the house dark-
a distant moon
through the skylight

Wind

golden fields of wheat-
long blades of giant windmills
lazily turning

arid sun-
sagebrush
swirls in wind

Stones

an old foundation
reclaimed by a forest of
thickly tangled vines

blowing snow-
winds sing in
the chimney

Vampire

the creak of hinges-
curtains drawn against the light
rising in the east

fading daylight-
the rustle of
leathery wings

Touch

my outstretched fingers-
reaching out for your touch but
you’re already gone

icy fog-
your skin cold
to the touch

Raccoons

well before sunrise
the clamor of rubbish bins
echoes in my sleep

venus rising-
masked bandits
steal my trash
