Forest

a forest clearing-
under a thicket the faun
waits for her mother

gauzy moonlight-
the woodland’s heart
whispers my name

Spring

a patchwork of blue-
clouds thread their way through branches
awaiting new growth

a taste of green-
daffodils pierce
the quilted snow

Painting

an old masters hand-
long unused sable brushes
come back to life

hazy morning-
blobs of white
dot the hillside

Bryant Park

laughter in the air-
mittens and scarves skating past
closed curio shops

bistro tables-
bohemian couples
on the grass

Betrayal

in a shadow box
fragments of my broken heart
preserved and on display

shimmering heat-
pools of water
just out of reach

River

cold mountain water-
a riverbed lined with stones
tumbled smooth by time

the forest green-
a whispering brook
shares its secrets

Age

as day turns to night
the sun gives her dying light
to the mountain tops

mountain peaks-
aging temples
streaked with snow

Seduction

red stiletto heels
peeking out from underneath
the hem of her skirt

silk stockings-
black lines trace
the curve of her calves

Steam

the bathroom mirror-
a message written in steam
appears in your hand

starlit noon-
steam pours
from off the rocks

Lightning

low rolling thunder-
lightning crawls across the sky
rattling windows

summer night-
the sky lit by
heat lightning
