Dogs

any hope of sleep
spurned by the approaching dawn
and a snoring dog

sleeping dogs-
the violent death
of a cardboard box

Harvest

broad fields of amber
spread under a western sky-
gentle autumn rain

thinning clouds-
baled hay
in the sun

Invitation

each time you leave me
it gets a little harder
to let you back in

terra cotta-
under the pot
the door key

Morning

our fingers entwined-
the dusky blush of daybreak
mirrored in your face

the rising sun-
my finger traces
along your lips

Passion

your head on my chest-
falling asleep together
in the afterglow

a warm breeze-
tangled together
in the tall grass

Shower

caught out in squall
running through the rain, wet hair
plastered to her head

evening rain-
stepping from
a warm bath

Grass

warm spring afternoon
rolling down a grassy hill
into a mass grave

wispy clouds-
grass stains and
smiling faces

Rebirth

my respite over
the calling of this new life-
irresistible

moonglow-
another turn
at the wheel

Life

this life all too brief-
a freshly fallen snowflake
melting in my hand

rebirth-
spring sky in
a robin’s egg

Beneath

barefoot in the grass-
the rhythm of seasons
under her sundress

daydream-
warm sunlight
under my skin
