Rain

the end of the rain-
I pull back layers of clouds
to reveal the stars

petrichor-
storm clouds
in a puddle

Sunlight

a warm rain ended-
softened sunlight drizzles down
to the forest floor

dawn breaks-
sunlight arrives
unannounced

Return

ripples on ripples-
the pond’s once glassy surface
welcomes back the rain

a forest lea-
the doe and her fawn
return to the wood

Disaster

horizontal rain-
fractured palms and broken dreams
tumble down the street

dark greasy smoke-
The sky lit
by falling embers

Moving

an early March snow-
past time for pulling up roots
and moving along

stinging rain-
I return to find
an empty home

Melt

late winter garden-
a calico patchwork of
leaves and melting snow

a hollow log-
rain falls
on melting ice

Ice

a walk in the woods-
the ice covered snow crunching
underneath my boots

freezing rain-
my nerves
tested

Stone

so many evenings
spent in stony solitude
with yet without you

rain etched stones-
the once neat path
overgrown

Weather

a cold rain falling-
trying to stay warm with tales
of wine and whiskey

white mountains-
caribou freeze
at a cracking branch

Bows

cloudless starlit skies-
a pale white moonbow appears
above the aspen

double rainbow-
a gracious gift
after the storm
