Shower

passing rain showers-
steam rises from the asphalt
in the summer sun

soft patter-
august leaves
talk to the rain

Time

a rain-soaked highway-
the skeletal hand of fate
cuts another thread

trapped in amber-
mountains are as
grains of sand

Salty

seeing you again-
I add a touch of salt to
a long glass of rain

ocean spray-
saltwater
stings my lips

Passing

one flame extinguished
while another adds it’s light
to the firmament

eyes downcast-
black armbands
wet with rain

Calls

a thick veil of clouds-
the lullaby of crickets
sung beneath the rain

predawn fog-
a vixen’s cry
heralds the sun

Night

walking to the car
mercury vapor street lamps
spilling blue green light

drizzle-
moths dance
in the streetlights

Evening

ephemeral rain-
bird songs echo from the trees
in the fading light

twilight-
a grove
of amber

Mud

dark murky waters
dirt and debris stirred up from
raking the bottom

cold rain-
a dark past
muddied by truth

Light

a time of rebirth-
years spent living in the dark
rescued by your light

through the water
dancing reflections
from the surface

Seas

waiting for the sea-
an ancient mariner mourns
the arriving tide

bedraggled skies-
limp with rain over
an unkempt sea
