Deluge
an ocean of books
barely able to slake my
thirst for the unknown
–
gunmetal clouds-
stepping outside
into the deluge
an ocean of books
barely able to slake my
thirst for the unknown
–
gunmetal clouds-
stepping outside
into the deluge
autumn afternoons-
leaves plucked from swaying branches
dancing in the breeze
–
overcast-
shark scales
above my head
I may be different
but I am not a problem
that needs to be solved
–
fly fishing-
different clouds
under the same sky
stalks of winter wheat
growing through the rusty frame
of an old tractor
–
rising light-
a tattered scarecrow
greets the sun
autumn mornings spent
polishing the temple bells
as the sun rises
–
robins-
footprints in
the morning dew
flags snap in the wind-
lines of waves begin to break
over silver sands
–
snoring-
warm breath
on my neck
inhaling my breath-
fresh clay from the river banks
shaped in my image
–
amber leaves-
a broken vessel
returned to the earth
low, the morning moon
full behind the breaking clouds
glowing in the sun
–
pumpkins on the vine-
the eastern sky
full of promise
pleading for my life-
attempting to atone for
the wrongs that I’ve done
–
morning dew-
my sins cast
upon the water
a golden eagle-
soaring as the sun sinks on
a cumbrian lake
–
reflections-
autumn leaves
in the water
