Afternoon

an outdoor cafe
she watches the passersby
sipping her water

bare foot sun-
luminous in
a sheer skirt

Sand

an aging lighthouse
stands sand blasted and buried
by the walking dunes

frigid winds-
the predawn
desert frost

Together

from this day forward
two lives bound together by
simple bands of gold

rich brown earth-
massive oxen
yoked together

Shoreline

reeds and rushes-
a warm tide ebbs from the marsh
and runs to the sea

sea glass-
walking the beach
at low tide

Whisper

elusive silence-
a old game of whispers played
within my own head

before dawn-
the wind talking
with the leaves

Wind

leaves swirl in the wind-
a blackbird takes his respite
on my windowsill

dandelion seeds-
wishes adrift
on the wind

Heat

an empty porch swing-
lazy paddle fans disturb
the hot southern air

the forest floor-
dragonflies still
in the thick air

Revisit

looking back in time
pictures of who we once were
under cellophane

rich brown soil-
an old green tin
a child’s treasure

Farming

verdant fields of grass
freshly cut into windrows
drying in the sun

migrant bees-
tend the
grape arbor

Morning

awake in my bed-
dawn eases through my window
gilding all I see

a web of stars-
blackbird songs
invades my dreams
