Snow

snow covered pines-
evergreen branches droop low
just before they break

falling snow-
a large crow
in the holly bush

Frost

a carpet of frost
woven from the morning dew
spreads across the grass

wrought iron trellis-
late autumn roses
frosted with white

Wind

sudden autumn snow-
wind blown beauty and carnage
behind in its wake

cold winds-
whorls and eddies
of fallen leaves

Frost

a fire in the hearth-
my well worn leather arm chair
and a mug of tea

frosted glass-
your cold feet
under my legs

Funeral

hands neatly folded
pinstripe suit and crisp linens
so properly posed

early sunday morning-
freshly turned earth
and rough sawn pine

Chemo

a black bitter pill
taken with a glass of bile-
so hard to swallow

november morn-
the push is over
now I taste salt.

Rain

low distant thunder-
the smell of fall in the air
as the rain rolls in

sleeping cats-
outside the rain
turns to sleet

Frost

warm morning sunlight
the dawn breaking in the trees
over frosted vines

plumes of breath-
the starlit
ice wine harvest

Fall

draped across the yard
a patchwork of autumn leaves
quilted by the wind

november air-
bronzed oak leaves
litter the ground

Trains

down along the tracks-
in the distance the fog glows
with a passing train

a waiting owl-
the train echos
through the hollow
