Shadows
moonlight in the trees-
silently a cold wind shifts
shadows on the snow
–
long shadows-
the warm wind
walks me home
moonlight in the trees-
silently a cold wind shifts
shadows on the snow
–
long shadows-
the warm wind
walks me home
building my fortress
I bury my emotions
beneath the first stone
–
cacophony-
late night frogs
in my stone walls
white on shades of blue-
the day ends as sailors tire
of chasing the wind
–
moonlight-
sailboats crease
the black water
hiding from the sun
living in the shadows while
I curse the darkness
–
the moon obscured-
my ancient thirst
unslaked
the small of your back
illuminated softly
by a slice of moon
–
waterfall-
hair cascading
across my pillow
my soul recoils from
the cold skeletal touch of
the angel of death
–
twilight-
fireflies lead me
across the river
almost a year clean
yet I still have a hard time
passing by the spoons
–
closing time –
club soda
my paltry reward
an aging lighthouse
stands sand blasted and buried
by the walking dunes
–
frigid winds-
the predawn
desert frost
a glowering moon-
the creak of a rocking chair
in an empty house
–
moonlit shadows-
your hand
pale in mine
elusive silence-
a old game of whispers played
within my own head
–
before dawn-
the wind talking
with the leaves
