Light
a time of rebirth-
years spent living in the dark
rescued by your light
–
through the water
dancing reflections
from the surface
a time of rebirth-
years spent living in the dark
rescued by your light
–
through the water
dancing reflections
from the surface
as day turns to night
the sun gives her dying light
to the mountain tops
–
mountain peaks-
aging temples
streaked with snow
red stiletto heels
peeking out from underneath
the hem of her skirt
–
silk stockings-
black lines trace
the curve of her calves
the bathroom mirror-
a message written in steam
appears in your hand
–
starlit noon-
steam pours
from off the rocks
low rolling thunder-
lightning crawls across the sky
rattling windows
–
summer night-
the sky lit by
heat lightning
offshore thunderstorms-
an old salt returns to the
bosom of the sea
–
crimson skies
a funeral boat
adrift and alight
trash cans at the curb
the stars at my back as I
walk back up the drive
–
upended bins-
a bandit masked
in the moonlight
gold and silver koi
resting by the water’s edge
scatter the moonlight
–
water lilies-
a dragonfly’s
reflection
shards of broken glass
strewn deeply across my path
yet still I walk on
–
moonlit surf-
hatchling turtles
dash for the sea
wolves of stone and snow
insubstantial in the light
of the forest moon
–
rising embers-
mournful howling
in the distance
