Surprise

warm morning sunlight
shines upon on a stranger’s face
in my hotel bed

full moon-
muddy tracks
lead to my bed

Shore

a horseshoe crab shell
empty in the shadow of
an upturned rowboat

moonlit surf-
the lifeguard tower
stands empty

Autumn

a bite in the air-
nighthawks begin flying south
along the shoreline

orange moon-
the year’s work
ready for harvest

Glimmer

the edge of the moon
nicks the night sky and reveals
the bare hint of light

cloaked in darkness-
betrayed by
a cigarette

Descent

as the sun goes down-
I turn the final pages
of this well worn book

a ashen moon-
mist descends
upon the moors

Sails

white on shades of blue-
the day ends as sailors tire
of chasing the wind

moonlight-
sailboats crease
the black water

Nosferatu

hiding from the sun
living in the shadows while
I curse the darkness

the moon obscured-
my ancient thirst
unslaked

Bed

the small of your back
illuminated softly
by a slice of moon

waterfall-
hair cascading
across my pillow

Moonlight

a glowering moon-
the creak of a rocking chair
in an empty house

moonlit shadows-
your hand
pale in mine

Serenity

pockets of moonlight
across the rippled surface
of a mountain lake

midnight water-
still dragonflies
dimple the surface
