snow on the gravestones-
the caretaker’s lantern swings
haloed in the fog
–
moonlit snow-
fog sprawls
across the road

bright silver moonlight
streaming in through the skylight
pooling on the floor
–
quicksilver-
the full moon
above the trees

I placed you upon
a pedestal and now you’re
far beyond my reach
–
the house dark-
a distant moon
through the skylight

withered autumn leaves-
not sure if he’ll live to see
another sunrise
–
desert stars-
hard and blue
in the moonlight

the fire laid on while
winter in all its fury
rages at my door
–
grey skies-
cruel winter winds
howl at the moon

cloudless starlit skies-
a pale white moonbow appears
above the aspen
–
double rainbow-
a gracious gift
after the storm

warm embers of clouds
gilded rose and violet
from the rising sun
–
dawn moon-
a crow alights
on an ashen branch

a nested raven-
spreads his ebon wings beneath
the lunar eclipse
–
winter sky-
the moon
as blood

midnight approaches-
carrying the promises
of the coming year
–
again-
the rising sun
greets the new year

a quicksilver moon-
coyotes in the woods call
the gathering dawn
–
winter moon-
afloat on the
midnight surf
