Steam
the bathroom mirror-
a message written in steam
appears in your hand
–
starlit noon-
steam pours
from off the rocks
the bathroom mirror-
a message written in steam
appears in your hand
–
starlit noon-
steam pours
from off the rocks
gold and silver koi
resting by the water’s edge
scatter the moonlight
–
water lilies-
a dragonfly’s
reflection
shards of broken glass
strewn deeply across my path
yet still I walk on
–
moonlit surf-
hatchling turtles
dash for the sea
wolves of stone and snow
insubstantial in the light
of the forest moon
–
rising embers-
mournful howling
in the distance
the low western sun-
surrounding the rising moon
a golden halo
–
thunder rolls-
dark clouds pass
before the moon
off the mountain road
a wake of buzzards gather
‘round a fallen deer
–
moonrise-
the fawn waits
in the tall grass
the first spring sunrise-
a thin mist of winter clings
to the melting snow
–
daybreak-
a silver moon
over hoarfrost grass
the end of the rain-
I pull back layers of clouds
to reveal the stars
–
petrichor-
storm clouds
in a puddle
encroaching darkness-
a blue moon wanders across
the path of the sun
–
approaching night-
a bat flies across
the moon
dark forest shadows
stand in stark relief against
the cold moonlit snow
–
silver moonlight-
mercury in
retrograde
