Nothings

softly spoken words
meant for only you to hear-
whispers by your neck

our wedding duvet-
my open heart by
your sleeping ear

White

slices of the moon
slivered through the window blinds
drape across your back

snowy owl-
cold branches
in the dead of night

Sleep

your door left open-
looking back at you as I
close it behind me

moonlight-
your mobile
slowly winds down

Barns

blue moonlight drips through
holes in the tattered shingles
onto the barn floor

peeling red paint-
the barn door
hangs askew

Spring

over greening trees
the ashen face of winter
watches the sunrise

peep frogs-
rainfall on
the river

Orion

alone in the dark
the hunter chases his prey
deep into the night

cold moonlight-
he claims his place
among the stars

Night

starless winter skies-
ebon velvet overhead
diamond dust below

curls of silver-
the night sky pierced
by the moon

Overtaken

shutting out the crowd
absolutely enthralled by
the shape of your words

rising moon-
night rolls over
the winter hills

Sound

the sharp metal screech
of the trolley’s brakes snaps me
from my reverie

silver moonlight-
a screech owl perched
outside my window

Frost

icy autumn breath
a sliver of the full moon
gazes down on me

morning run-
frozen leaves
crunch underfoot
