Showers
steam on the asphalt-
an early afternoon rain
slowly departing
–
evening rain-
a barn owl waits
in a hollow tree
steam on the asphalt-
an early afternoon rain
slowly departing
–
evening rain-
a barn owl waits
in a hollow tree
guilded ocean waves-
just above the horizon
the last slice of sun
–
riding the waves-
fog crashes
into the beach
raspberry brambles-
raucous bluejays fly into
pomegranate skies
–
march afternoon-
apple pies cool
in the window
winter’s dying breath-
the winged herald of spring
arriving too late
–
morning frost-
tender lilac buds
robed in ice
softly glowing coals-
the gentle curve of your hips
make the snow drifts blush
–
afternoon sun-
rising streams
of snow melt
the blankets askew-
you stand before the window
glowing in moonlight
–
together asea-
with eyes the sky
and hair the sun
sitting ‘neath the moon-
entranced by the graceful curve
of your bare shoulder
–
caramel skin-
silver moonlight
in your hair
full moon sunrise-
a thin spiderweb of clouds
spun across the sky
–
brightening skies-
the morning moon
greets the sun
much more so than life
death will be my defining
characteristic
–
a cold rain
the bus arrives
to take me back home
late winter sunlight-
dawn paints my bedroom walls gold
an hour too early
–
almost spring-
awake before
my coffee pot
