Winter
early spring flurries-
a young robin perches in
snow covered holly
–
peach sunrise-
frost glazes the
juniper berries
early spring flurries-
a young robin perches in
snow covered holly
–
peach sunrise-
frost glazes the
juniper berries
an old foundation
reclaimed by a forest of
thickly tangled vines
–
blowing snow-
winds sing in
the chimney
the creak of hinges-
curtains drawn against the light
rising in the east
–
fading daylight-
the rustle of
leathery wings
the coals put to bed-
a sugar coated landscape
greets me at sunrise
–
saturday morning-
full of promise
beyond my bed
the last leaf of fall-
waiting for the warm spring sun
buried under snow
–
falling sleet-
an icy glaze
on english ivy
in the morning sun
slight pockets of fog linger
on winter hillsides
–
morning mist-
migrating geese
hug the shore
my old tired soul
steeped in warm flowing water
washing me away
–
frozen windows-
winter winds blow
through my soul
winter moths gather-
snowflakes lit by the street lamp
in the bitter night
–
gathering drifts-
ice crawls up
my window
the warm light of dawn
eases in through the curtains
and kisses your cheek
–
early light-
a gentle kiss on
your sleeping head
wind in the rushes-
dawn breaks on a night-heron
stalking the salt marsh
–
onshore breezes-
deep in the fen
the cattails sing
