Luna

silvery fingers-
the moon I plucked from the sky
safe in my pocket

crescent moon-
silver fish swim
among the stars

Fire

smoke from the chimney-
a startled crack leaves embers
glowing on the hearth

whispers of smoke-
coals nestled in
among the ashes

Blackbird

curling ocean waves-
the blackbird’s white feathered wings
touch an azure sky

glass dipped in frost-
a magpie taps
at my window

Morning

incessant beeping-
cobwebs in my coffee cup
my head thick with sleep

gentle sunlight-
irish breakfast and
the sunday puzzle

Below

I’m holding my breath-
when I hit bottom I know
you’ll help me exhale

ripples of light-
the water’s surface
far above

Insomnia

staring at the clock
waiting an eternity
for the time to change

my mind’s ear-
wide awake
in the dark

Eve

pumpkins on the porch-
fall winds whisper through the night
welcoming the frost

evening winds-
the waltzing of
fallen leaves

Walking

autumn afternoon-
the sound of a cricket lost
amid the tall grass

rotting wood-
silent shadows
of the forest

Fog

a hillside cottage-
the morning sun clears the clouds
asleep on the roof

first starlight-
fog creeps in
from the underbrush

Moonlight

an open window-
she disrobes in the shadows
to bathe in moonlight

the hunter’s moon-
a dryad hidden
in her tree
