Evil
deep in the shadows
a dark malevolence seeps
from out of the woods
–
wicker basket-
destroying angels
lie in wait
deep in the shadows
a dark malevolence seeps
from out of the woods
–
wicker basket-
destroying angels
lie in wait
rooted to the ground
frozen, my mind replaying
one moment in time
–
blinding sun-
the city street
unnaturally quiet
champagne glass in hand-
ignoring the obvious
we toast our future
–
midnight sun-
a polar bear prowls
the city streets
a lovers embrace
two hot tempers intertwine
leaving just ashes
–
falling snow-
crackling in
our fireplace
warm spring afternoon
rolling down a grassy hill
into a mass grave
–
wispy clouds-
grass stains and
smiling faces
filling the valley-
bright sunlight captured in the
autumn morning mist
–
slanted sunlight-
in the canyon
a river of fog
gentle drops of rain
fall from the trees to collect
on my upturned face
–
quiet water-
minnows surface
beneath my shadow
mired in the past
endlessly forced to repeat
the sins of my youth
–
born of fire-
ashes rise
into the night
in silent anguish
the mute reach out for justice
their voices stolen
–
discordant music-
in the apple tree
a starling
staring at myself-
the bottom of a shot glass
looking back at me
–
oasis-
an empty carcass
in the sand
