Sunlight

sensing acceptace
evil walks in the daylight
no longer afraid

sunlight-
insects scatter
from prying eyes

Reckoning

staring at myself-
the bottom of a shot glass
looking back at me

oasis-
an empty carcass
in the sand

Hung

staring unfocused-
bloodshot sky barely noticed
through these bleary eyes

cottonmouth-
a morning dove
splits my skull

Battle

curling up in pain
the taste of salt on my lips
from licking my wounds

echoes-
broken antlers on
the forest floor

Lost

years of wasted time
of opportunities lost
and then you were gone

ancient water-
black scales sink
beneath the surface

Regret

every single day
regrettable decisions
I can’t seem to stop

waiting in vain-
a puddle
of streetlight

Early

autumn mornings spent
polishing the temple bells
as the sun rises

robins-
footprints in
the morning dew

Trust

full of suspicions-
in our bed looking at you
lying beside me

crevasse-
a broken trust
far from healing

Quiet

a prick and a push-
quelling my inner deamons
for just a moment

thunder-
reveling in
the sudden silence

Ruin

violent currents
slake their thirst with sailor’s lives
by the gates of hell

jagged ice-
ancient wrecks
litter the narrows
