Vacation
giggling children
burying my feet in warm
caribbean sands
–
shearwaters-
palms fronds
in the breeze
giggling children
burying my feet in warm
caribbean sands
–
shearwaters-
palms fronds
in the breeze
standing in a queue
at the end of my patience
quite unlike this line
–
wind blown sagebrush-
the road I’m on ends
at the horizon
last minute details
awhirl with activity
all before we leave
–
fog rolling in
light rain falling
obscuring the jetway
the burning forests-
gaia’s tears turn to embers
borne off by the wind
–
peals of thunder-
rain falling
on a wild fire
my ghosted reflection-
grey faces in the windows
of the passing train
–
stunning vistas-
guardrails floating
above the road
a guttering flame
struggling to hold the wick
before going out
–
roiling clouds-
searing winds blow
the grasslands ablaze
bitter grievances
at the holiday table
long past time for peace
–
unrelenting
a winter river
choked with ice
ghost of summer’s sun
ring tailed bandits in the night
making such mischief
–
october sky
arcturus settles in
to the throne of the king
clinging to the flames
my mortal sins escape me
carried by the wind
–
absolution
casting bread
upon the water
wishing you all peace
in the hope and promise of
the coming new year
–
auburn leaves
a chestnut takes root
in the dampened earth
