Clouds

a dandelion seed
lazily drifts through the sky
as I watch the clouds

freshly cut grass-
making sculptures
from the clouds

Watching

the sky fades to black-
another episode down
with your hand in mine

crisp night air-
the pleiades
overhead

Summer

searing hot asphalt-
children splash in the water
from a cracked hydrant

heavy branches-
in the shade
a rope swing

Summer

chocolate ice cream
slowly melting in the heat
of the summer sun

amber skies-
an ice cream truck
around the corner

Shoreline

a weathered rowboat-
mooring line gently slapping
up against the dock

children jumping
from the pier-
lakeside

Commitment

softly he sings-
the workday forgotten as
he tends his bonsai

an empty bench-
pigeons await
her arrival

Missed

the scent of your hair
lingering on my pillow
greets me with the dawn

daybreak-
my arm draped around
your missing waist

Pastels

unexpected rain-
flowing into the gutter
a child’s masterpiece

mountain and sky-
colors blended
on my canvas

Flowers

a yellow sundress-
the scent of lilac blossoms
carried on the breeze

dreams of dawn-
waking memories
of jasmine

Lips

a wine glass empty
save for the mark your lips made
when kissing the rim

thick woolen socks-
a spark jumps
between our lips
