Cats
two dark silhouettes
framed in the open window
sitting side by side
–
tails twitching-
warm dreams
in the sunlight
two dark silhouettes
framed in the open window
sitting side by side
–
tails twitching-
warm dreams
in the sunlight
pockets of moonlight
across the rippled surface
of a mountain lake
–
midnight water-
still dragonflies
dimple the surface
april’s robin song-
the morning moon rolls over
and kisses the sun
–
cat at my feet-
your back warm
against my chest
watching from afar-
a tree falls in the forest
the silence unheard
–
old oak tree-
climbing vines
reach for the su
hushed elevator-
the open doors close once more
leaving us alone
–
frosted glass-
winter air
seeps in
over chips and drinks
the sounds of friendship filter
through my old screen door
–
dark windows-
piles of chips
shufflled cards
your face in the glass
its hard to believe were just
an ocean apart
–
cold winds-
across the table
a sideways glance
bored eyes unfocused
staring out the car window
the guardrail floating
–
migrating geese-
an endless river
of taillights
silver cormorants
standing by the melting edge
of a frozen lake
–
snowfall-
koi slowly swim
beneath a skin of ice
breathless in the rain-
the greyhound bus pulls away
but you’re not on it
–
a cold rain-
my forehead
on the window
