climbing vines

hushed elevator-
the open doors close once more
leaving us alone

frosted glass-
winter air
seeps in

Chips

over chips and drinks
the sounds of friendship filter
through my old screen door

dark windows-
piles of chips
shufflled cards

Distance

your face in the glass
its hard to believe were just
an ocean apart

cold winds-
across the table
a sideways glance

Road

bored eyes unfocused
staring out the car window
the guardrail floating

migrating geese-
an endless river
of taillights

Ice

silver cormorants
standing by the melting edge
of a frozen lake

snowfall-
koi slowly swim
beneath a skin of ice

Rain

breathless in the rain-
the greyhound bus pulls away
but you’re not on it

a cold rain-
my forehead
on the window
